YouTube: Simple Ways That Will Increase Views

YouTube is always changing and evolving. YouTube is no longer dominated by videos of funny cats and dogs riding skateboards. Today YouTube is also a place for marketers.

YouTube hosts over 1 billion hours of video each day — more than Netflix or Facebook combined.

Here’s the thing: Youtube is used by 62 percent of businesses to upload video content. That’s crazy!

Crazy-awesome for you that is — because when used effectively, YouTube is an extremely powerful business tool. But in order to boost your sales, you’ve got to get more free YouTube views.

In this article, you’ll learn 18 ways to get more views on YouTube, build your brand, and boost your sales.

Let’s first talk briefly about how to upload a YouTube video.

How to get more views on YouTube
Let’s now get into the details of how to get more views on YouTube.

1. Create Compelling Content

If your videos don’t look good, it doesn’t matter what hacks you use or how many ads you run. How can you make compelling content that gets more views on YouTube? Well, one of the best ways is to create ‘how to’ videos:

Identify the most important information your customers want, then create videos to meet those needs. This works. You bet.

Cochrane discovers video ideas through the comments on his social media channels. If this fails, Cochrane asks his followers what videos they would like to see.

It’s simple, right?

Cochrane said, “An amazing thing happens when you ask people what they need and want, and then you go and make it for them — they think you read their mind!” Bottom-line: Consistently create content that solves your ideal customer’s problems or meets their needs. This is a great way to build a loyal fan base and increase your YouTube views. This can give you boost:

2. Encourage viewers to subscribe

Did you know that your best customers are your existing customers? In other words, retaining customers can be a powerful way to grow your business. YouTube views are the same.

This is why it is so easy to increase your YouTube views by encouraging your existing viewers to subscribe. Subscribers will increase the number and quality of each video you upload. How can you encourage viewers to subscribe?

It is best to simply ask at the beginning or end of each video!

Don’t ask viewers to subscribe. After they click ‘Subscribe’, make sure you prompt them to activate the notification bell.

Once a viewer has subscribed, they will be notified whenever you upload a new clip. To increase your YouTube views and get more free ones, it is important to grow your subscribers. Ask your viewers to sign up now!

3. To keep people watching, create playlists

YouTube’s own statistics show that “top-performing brands on YouTube build and promote twice as many playlists as the bottom 25%.”

Why playlists work so well Auto-play. __S.51__ Actually, there is a cognitive bias called “loss aversion” at work.

Loss aversion states that the pain of losing something is twice as bad as the pleasure received from gaining something equivalent. Loss aversion, for example, suggests that people will put in twice as much effort to retain $100 than they will to gain $100. Auto-play uses loss avoidance to reframe the situation.

The question is not “Does this video make you want to click play?”. Now the question is “Does it make you want to stop looking enough to click away?” This is subtle, but it’s powerful. If your content is great, viewers will keep watching. Playlists can also help with search rankings. Playlist titles offer another way to target keywords.

It is easiest to create a YouTube playlist by simply going to the videos you want to add, and then clicking the “+” icon beneath each video.

You can then create a playlist or add it into an existing playlist. You can get more views on YouTube by creating a playlist with your best content. Start promoting it now!

4. Promote Other Videos with End Screens or Cards

You can promote your videos on YouTube by using cards and end screens. First, you’ll need to verify your YouTube account to access these features. Click on your profile image in the top right and click ‘Creator Studio.’ Next, click the ‘Status & features’ tab.

This page allows you to see additional YouTube channel features as well as set them up. Let’s now take a closer look on end screens and cards.

An end screen is a frame you place at the end your videos to wrap up and highlight calls-to action.

Cards can be set up to appear at any time in the video. These can be used to direct viewers to another playlist or video, or they can be used to create poll cards which are a great way for viewers to tell you what they want to see more (remember tip number one?). You can.

You can see both at work in this example from the Oberlo YouTube channel:

Go to the Creator Studio, click Video Manager’, then click Videos. To add end screen cards and cards to your videos click ’Edit.’ Once you are on the video editor page you can add end screen cards and end screens by clicking the menu options at the top.

End screens and cards can be powerful tools. Make sure to use them for calls-to-action in YouTube videos.

5. 5.Add a watermark to your videos

Watermarks can help you gain more subscribers and YouTube views. They also allow you to promote your channel on all your videos. A watermark can be an image that you set to appear on all your videos. Most brands use their logo. A watermark prompts viewers to subscribe when they hover their mouse over it. Which is why the Shopify YouTube channel has chosen a watermark saying ‘subscribe’:

Once again, you need to verify your YouTube account to be able to upload a watermark. You can’t choose which videos have watermarks, they appear on all your videos.

You can add watermarks to your videos by going to the Creator Studio, and clicking ‘Branding.

Next, click “Add a Watermark” and upload your image.

This is a simple way to promote your brand via YouTube.

Tip:A watermark should be square, transparent, and at least 50×50 pixels. YouTube reduces watermarks to fit in corners of videos. Creating a larger watermark will ensure that your brand is visible to your target audience.

6. Ensure that your videos are embedded enabled

Your viewers are eager to share the video they have created over years.

They can’t. Because you forgot embedding.

* Gulp*

Allowing viewers to embed your video on their websites and blogs is an effective way for your brand to reach new audiences and get more views on YouTube. YouTube will display the ‘Embed” option to viewers who click ‘Share’ beneath a video.

Click on the link to view the embed code of the video and copy it onto your blog or website.

You can embed the video by going to the Creator Studio.

Next, click “Advanced Settings” and scroll down to “Distribution Options” to make sure “Allow Embedding” is checked.

Bottom line: Make sure that your videos are embedded to encourage viewers sharing your content.

Followers on other social media channels should be notified each time you upload a new YouTube video. This can be done with a teaser video. The example below shows how we created a teaser video for a YouTube video. We then posted it to Oberlo’s Facebook page, with a link to its full version on the Oberlo YouTube channel.

A social media scheduling tool such as Hootsuite and Buffer can make it easier. You don’t have to limit yourself to social media channels. Your YouTube videos can be embedded in blog posts or pages on your site.

And don’t forget about email marketing. With an industry average open rate of 18 percent and a purchase rate of 66 percent, email marketing is a powerhouse when it comes to sales conversions. It doesn’t have to be complicated.

Oberlo sends out an email to inform our subscribers when we release new videos.

YouTube isn’t a standalone social channel, so make sure to cross-promote your videos through your free marketing channels.

8. Understanding the importance of “Watch Time”

YouTube describes their algorithm as a “search and discovery system.” This algorithm determines which videos are shown:

  • The homepage
  • As suggested videos
  • Search results
  • Unter dem Tab Subscriptions
  • By creating notifications

The algorithm does not only impact individual videos but also entire YouTube channels. YouTube’s algorithm is complex, but the most important thing to understand is that it’s heavily based on ‘Watch Time.’ In fact, according to YouTube, “Each video uploaded — as well as every channel on YouTube — is ‘ranked’ by watch time.”

Watch Time is how much time people spend actually watching your videos:

Bottom-line: YouTube rewards quality.  This will increase your Watch Time minutes, and YouTube will favor your videos.

Another thing: Referring viewers to other videos on YouTube can earn you ‘watchtime credits’. It’s basically like affiliate marketing.

Keep your viewers engaged for as long as possible and don’t hesitate to promote other YouTube channels within your niche.

YouTube is more than a video search engine. YouTube is also a social network. YouTube must be used in the same way as other social media networks to gain more views. It’s not enough to share videos regularly. You also have to engage your audience.

What is the best way? It is best to respond to comments, especially if they are direct questions. Knowing that they will receive a reply makes viewers more likely to leave comments.
